We are socially responsible, everyone working on the festival is paid – there are no “it’ll be good for your profile” excuses to interns. We are also funded by ticket and merchandise sales, because we don’t believe the queers are for sale to the highest bidder and we don’t believe the finance models from the funding bodies would let us put this on the way we want.
Our sponsorship deals have been very focussed and for the bulk of any deal ask sponsors to help support our socially responsible activities. We look for local sponsors that fit with our ethos.
We are donating 10% of the profits of this festival to the Albert Kennedy Trust. Because we think they are fantastic with the work they do with LGBT youth to help them with housing when they are in crisis.
We don’t just tick boxes in our diversity and inclusion- we want to make this a truly accessible event – so there is also a “Pay it forward” scheme which allows the users of the Albert Kennedy Trust access to the festival for a nominal ticket price – with our wonderful sponsors, patrons, and pay it forward audience members covering the rest of the ticket cost for these individuals.
